Training Policy

R.E.A.C.H has set the standard courses for all staff to complete and have refreshed, as appropriate, and these course are;

    1. Food Hygiene, refreshed every three years.
    2. First Aid, refreshed every three years.
    3. Moving and Handling, refreshed every year.
    4. MAPA, refreshed every two year.
    5. Autism, refreshed every three years.
    6. Fire Awareness, refreshed every years.
    7. Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, refreshed every three years.
    8. Medication, refreshed every three years.
    9. Infection Control, refreshed very three years.
    10. Health and Safety, refreshed every years.
    11. Epilepsy Awareness with Rectal Diazepam and Buccal Midazolam Administration, refreshed every three years.
    12. MCA and DoLS, refreshed every three years.
    13. Oral Hygiene, one off.
    14. Learning Disability and Communication Passport

    During the first four weeks after employment commences, all new starters will be offered five online training courses in Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Epilepsy, Infection Control, Fire Safety, Moving of Objects, Manual Handling of People and Health and Safety. These courses will be accessed through the Quality Care Academy at http://psittacus.qcagroup.co.uk/login. Managers will be able to create new staff on the system as a “New Learner” and allocate them these five courses to achieve.

    During the first four weeks, all new starters will be offered online courses in Food Hygiene, Autism and MCA/DoLS, Lone working, COSHH, Step ladder, Emergency First aid skills. These courses can be accessed through Log On To Care at www.logontocare.co.uk. Managers will be able to support staff to register on this website using their personal email address or can provide an email address for staff without such.

    During the first six weeks after employment commences, all new starters will be offered access to the online Care Certificate being offered by the Gray Matter at http://cis-assessments.co.uk. Managers will be able to support staff to register on this website using their personal email address or can provide an email address for staff without such.

    Completing and passing these training courses as well as providing certificates to confirm this, will be a condition of all staff passing their probation.

    Other courses in Practical First Aid, Fire Awareness, Oral Hygiene, Moving and Handling, MAPA, Medication, Epilepsy, Learning Disability and Communication Passport will be made available through monthly training plans being issued in advance and joining instructions being sent out as before. These may be offered during or after staff’s probationary periods but in time for staff to require these skills.

    The company sponsorship of staff to complete QCFs will continue at the appropriate levels for each worker.
